These work, and work well, with iPhones (iPods, too). BEWARE of the chargers on this site that say they are for iPods or other mp3 devices, but do not explicitly mention iPhone. I got one of them, too, as they are more compact (tines of electrical plug fold into chassis), but they do not charge my iPhone, and left overnight, they depleted the battery both on the road and at home (luckily, I could recharge my iPhone battery through the USB port of my MacBook). This item, though a bit more bulky in design, works with the iPhone. Note that it is said explicitly to charge iPhones.
