I was not expecting much as the price is so low compared with what you pay Apple for a product that isn't retractable. However, the cable works great and is really much better than what Apple provides with the original iPhone. The connector to the phone also locks into place and you need to pust the sides of the connector to release it. The retractor makes it easy to store and avoid tangles. And boy is it a bargain! Highly recommended.

Since battery life was a concern before I bought my iPhone, I wanted a charger that I could carry with me. I should have bought this product (along with the Travel Charger Adapter that I also bought) instead of the Car Adapter I bought at the Apple Store. These two products work just as expected, are conveniently small, are half the price, and (I should have realized) work in my car in the 110 outlet also.
