Product was dead on arrival. It did not work at all.

This product is exactly what I was looking for. I am a grad student and I use my ipod touch to read journal articles. This drains the battery pretty quick. With this external battery I can plug it in and keep using the ipod. I have not had the problems with the battery staying in that some of the other reviewers have reported.

I love this product. I have a jailbroken phone that has to have a computer to restart. So this is a lifesaver. I can go out and not have to worry about my phone dying. I use the Internet a lot and it eats the batteries up. So now I can just plug this in and away I go.

It is a very nice product. Reading all of the reviews before I purchased it was very helpful. It is everything it is described as. It is a very nice convenience for the price it is.

A draw back is that since he has a iskin cover on his itouch, he must remove the cover from the charging section so it can stay in place....

This is an awesome backup battery.. it's always there and easy to use and easy to recharge. Why pay tons and tons of money when this easy to use backup is always available at a low price from a great company.

The only problem is as notes by several others. It does not have any way to stay connected, so you have to be careful that it does not fall off the iPhone 3GS. Also, the iPhone power adapter plus in upside down to the backup battery which seems strange – but it does connect securely with he adapter unlike the backup battery to the iPhone.

The only reason I'm giving it a 4 out of 5 is that I haven't tested it to see how long it will power my iPhone yet. However, the same thing (okay, with a charger) costs $50 at Sharper Image. This is a great deal for a very useful backup battery.
Some reviewers here have complaints specific to what they're using, but if you're using it for an iPhone and don't mind charging it from a computer (or a USB charger - especially a cigarette lighter jack one), there's no reason to pay for another cable - you just use your iPhone cable that comes with it.

A great bargain but one major flaw. The dock connector has no clips to keep the battery plugged in so you must try to hold the battery in place if you intend to use the iPhone while charging. Otherwise, you place it on a flat surface for charging. In terms of more minor flaws, it does not have enough power to completely charge the iPhone and the battery has no off switch to preserve battery life. On the plus side, it is incredibly cheap, the shape is nearly the same width and thickness as the iPhone, and the power indicators are helpful.

Bought this for my 2nd generation Itouch. It does not stay pluged in tight. Put in on my wifes 1st generation Itouch and it works great.

This is the second order I placed and once again I am very satisfied with my purchase. It was received well ahead of the time period that was given to me. I will purchase more items from here.

Nice unit although 1000mah seems a little low on capacity. Also, charge port is upside down to what you would think it should be. Fits together nicely with the Ipod.

I like it! So far, it works well. You can use it to just charge the phone or operate it when your battery dies. I have a similar battery for my psp and they both work great. They say you should let your phone battery drain almost all the way down before recharging to prolong it's life. With this extra battery I always let my phone battery drain down, because I have this to charge it back up or to use the phone. I reccomend this product.

Does what it says, recharges the battery in the iPhone/iPod, and it works great!

I used it on a bike ride I did last weekend. Since I'm running a GPS-based app on my iPhone, the phone kind of needs to stay active. Of course, that sucks the battery so that's when I used this external battery. Overall, it's OK but not great. The mating with the phone seems to be lousy. I had short pants with cargo pocket and keep my iPhone in one of them, alone by itself. When I docked the battery and put the phone back in my pocket, the connection was intermittent, even though the phone and the battery had all the room needed, there was not much movement to disturb the connection, yet, it was going on and off constantly. If you can lay your phone on a flat surface, then maybe it can be useful. Second consideration is the relatively weak battery in it. 1000mAh won't recharge your iPhone completely if it's dead. I got some juice out of it to bring my iPhone to about half its total charge. For the price, it's not too bad but I'm sure there are better solutions. I just ordered a FastMac TruePower IV battery backpack. It has a 3100mAh battery so should theoretically recharge the iPhone more than once when it's completely depleted. Of course, it's much more expensive at around $90...

Overall @ $30.00 a good option if you have no battery life left in your device.
The connectivity between is poor and you must either hold it in place, or keep it on a flat surface during charging. |

I purchased this battery for the purpose of using it when i travel. Meaning that i would be using my earphones with it. That is impossible. The battery covers the earphone outlet. This is not shown on the images, but it is true. I am sending the product back just because of this reason. What is the use if you can't use your headphones. This may only be true on my itouch. I have a 2nd generation. Maybe it works with others. The product itself was great, just did not fit my needs.

The next review of mine was an error. I should have tried the cable the backwards way. The charging cable for my iTouch works fine with the External Battery for charging. It just connects the opposite of the way it connects to the iTouch.
This is a very nice package with blue LEDs to show the charged level and a button for testing the charge.
I give this a perfect rating at the price of 29.99 $US.
