Will not charge a first gen ITouch

I left it out in the sun for hours and it did not fully charge. So then I plugged it into my wall charger and still did not get a complete charge. Or does this not store power for later use? Perhaps I was not using it as it was intended to be used?

Please consider including instructions to explain exactly what it does and what I am required to do to make that happen.

Great product, I received it, did not charge it at all and just plugged my itouch into it. It turns blue on the back to confirm it is ready for charging. I left my itouch plugged in on my car dash for maybe an hour and it was about half way charged, it takes some time but it will charge it up. I am pretty sure it has to be in the sun to do the charging, it did not seem to store charging power. Kind of small to do that.
It works really well if used properly! I like it and it is a neat way to charge while camping or on a road trip with no car charger

Just received yesterday. Fully charged over night. Also exposed to the sunlight for 2 hrs. Then plugged in with my new iPhone 3Gs and nothing happened. My iPhone 3Gs just ignored it. It says to be 3G compatible, shouldn't I assume it is also compatible with 3Gs?
